Father and son arrested for stealing police motorcycle from police station
A government-owned motorcycle used by the police was stolen from inside the police station. After two months, the police recovered it and found out that a father and son were involved in the theft. The father, Muslim Mia (48), was arrested last Tuesday. The son, Minhaj Uddin, is absconding.

The CCTV camera footage of the police station shows that on May 12, a gang of thieves took away a Pulsar 150 cc motorcycle allocated by the government and used by the police station’s SIs from inside the Bayezid Bostami police station in the city. The police filed a case at the police station the next day in this incident. Currently, the case is being investigated by Bayezid Bostami police station’s SI Suman Barua. He told Prothom Alo that a drive was launched to recover the stolen motorcycle from the police station and arrest the gang of thieves. At one stage, it was learned that a person named Muslim Mia was selling the stolen motorcycle. Later, another person approached him posing as a buyer. At one stage, Muslim Mia was found. RAB members were also present in the drive with the police. After Muslim Mia was brought to the police station, he refused to admit that it was a stolen motorcycle from the police station. Suman Barua also said that after showing the CCTV camera footage of the police station, Muslim Mia admitted that the young man who took the motorcycle from the police station was his son Minhaj Uddin; his son’s friend Md. Rifat was with him. Later, based on the information received from Muslim Mia, the stolen Pulsar motorcycle was recovered from the Hillview residential area of Bayezid Bostami police station in the city. During interrogation, he admitted that his son stole the motorcycle and he sold it.
Bayezid Bostami police station SI Nur Islam told Prothom Alo that a drive is underway to arrest the absconding Minhaj and his accomplice. The father-son duo formed a theft ring. There are several theft cases against the son. He is known as a professional motorcycle thief.
Bayezid Bostami police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamruzzaman told Prothom Alo that the arrested accused has been sent to jail through the court. A remand application will be filed with the court for questioning of the accused.
